We try to head out to a park or playground to burn some energy and get some fresh air twice a day: once after breakfast and once after afternoon nap. Faye is famished after running around for an hour or two, and tends to chow down on a ton of snacks on our walk back to the house.
Faye is a phenomenal eater, but I’ve been feeling more and more like she’s been filling up on these after-play snacks rather than her main meals, making it all the more important that the snacks I do provide are healthy and nutritionally dense (which is easier said than done – especially when they need to travel well). Hence, this smoothie. It is chock full of nutrients such as: calcium, fiber, protein, fat, manganese, magnesium, phosphorous, and vitamins K & C. The Bio-K+ adds an additional burst of phenomenal probiotics to support and increase good gut-flora and boost the immune system. According to Isabele Chevalier,Vice-President of Bio-K+, “The World Health Organization has compiled a strict list of bacteria that are considered to be probiotics and the bacteria contained in yogurt are not on this list.” Bio-K is my absolute favorite pro-biotic on the market. If I’m sick, I can notice the difference immediately after ingesting a bottle.
The ingredients you use matter.
To provide your baby with the best nutrition, please make sure to only use organic fruit and pasture-raised, hormone free dairy. Thin skins make raspberries vulnerable to chemical absorption making it number 21 on the dirty fruit and veggie list. Dairy from factory farms is highly contaminated with pesticides (like organophosphates – Read the Harvard study tying it to ADHD in children) and insulin growth factor-1 (Read a study tying it to breast and gastrointestinal cancers – there are many more).
Raspberry Protein & Probiotic Smoothie

Makes two 5.5 oz servings
- 1/2 cup plain unsweetened yogurt (organic, from pasture-raised animals is best; MAKE IT DAIRY-FREE: use coconut milk yogurt)
- 1 cup frozen organic raspberries (or frozen fruit of your choice)
- 1 Bio-K+ Probiotic (MAKE IT DAIRY-FREE use the Bio-K made with a rice base)
- 1 tsp chia seeds
